Bowen Guitars - "Resurrection Guitar"

This is the true story of the timber from one common spruce tree that grew for nearly 400 years in the northern Alps before being felled by peasants in about 1460 and floated down the Isar River as an offering to build the largest cathedral in the Bavaria, the “Frauenkirche”.

Buried in the rubble and ashes of the Allied bombed 500 year-old Munich Cathedral, a special roof truss should have been destroyed but this timber was miraculously saved for the purpose of new life as a guitar, built through the hands of a dying luthier and his partner/luthier son, to bring Joy and the Hope of God’s renewing power to those who hear it.

Found 75 years after the cathedral was bombed, in a small Village in southwestern Germany by George Bowen. There was just enough wood left to build one bookmatched topped guitar. This alpine spruce is the same wood used by Stradivarius, only 200 years older.
